Gastritis is a general name for a group of conditions characterized by inflammation, irritation or erosion of the mucous membrane of the stomach. The cause of gastritis can be a bacterial or viral infection, stress, certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, bile reflux... With such a list of prerequisites, it is not surprising that every second person on the planet suffers from gastritis. For some it is asymptomatic, for others it occurs suddenly (acute gastritis), for others it prevents them from living permanently (chronic gastritis).Gastric symptoms are as follows:
- Abdominal pain;
- Loss of appetite.
- Hiccups.
- Flatulence.
- Nausea.
- vomiting
- Stomach ache.
- Stools are dark in color and have a tar consistency.
All this is very unpleasant, and even more unpleasant are the possible consequences of gastritis - such as ulcers or stomach cancer. But wait to panic! This disease is not so terrible if you follow a diet for gastritis.
Who needs a diet for gastritis? To everyone whose life has been poisoned in one way or another.Since gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach, it is very important to monitor what goes into the stomach. Some foods contribute to the development and increase of inflammation, while others, on the contrary, "calm it down".Even if gastritis is asymptomatic, you should still follow a diet, at least in general - this way you prevent the disease from getting worse.
What not to eat if you have gastritis
The main aspect of nutrition for gastritis is not to irritate an already irritated stomach, that is, to eat the most neutral food possible. This does not mean, of course, that until the end of time you can only eat chicken and steamed vegetables without salt, but you need to give up all kinds of spicy, salty, dry, smoked foods, especially if the doctor has prescribed a diet for gastritis with high acidity. So, what can you not eat?

- Spicy food. This includes many national dishes: Korean kimchi, Thai tom yum, Mexican tacos.
- Fatty foods. This also includes fast food - the amount of fat in it is much higher than usual.Studies have repeatedly shown that excessive fat consumption worsens gastritis, and you certainly don't want that.
- Alcohol.Any alcohol is a risk factor that triggers an attack of gastritis, so it is better to give it up completely.Even a small fraction can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
- Highly acidic foods. This includes, for example, citrus fruits.
- Sweets and pickles.Unfortunately, both also irritate the stomach wall, so you need to salt and sweeten your food in moderation. This also includes industrially produced juices and sodas - absolutely not on the list of drinks you can drink if you have gastritis.
- Bakery. It is better to buy or bake whole grain bread.
- Kvass.Definitely not.
- Fermented milk products. The gastric mucosa is also not friendly to them. This also includes whole milk. You can use sour cream, but not much.
- Spices and sauces.Be careful with them: even ketchup can trigger an attack, let alone adjika.Plants with a mixture of pepper should be removed from the table, and mustard is also superfluous.
Sometimes the cause of inflammation can be an allergy to something, but this is a relatively rare case.
To make it easier for you to navigate, here are examples of foods that should be excluded from the diet for gastritis.
You can not eat:sausages, fresh bread, baked goods, fatty cheeses, sweets and cakes, pickles, cakes, scrambled eggs, fried cuts, hodgepodge, kharcho, dried meat, cherries, raisins, lingonberries, fried potatoes, convenience foods, fatty meats, onions, corn, chocolate, nuts, garlic, fatty foods, instant fish, canned fatty fish, beans, mushrooms, unripe fruits.
You can not drink:cocoa, strong tea, juice, any alcohol, carbonated sweet drinks, energy drinks.
In general, nutrition for gastritis depends on the acidity of the stomach and, therefore, whether it should be increased, reduced or "left alone."
If your acidity is high, remove extra coffee, rye bread, citrus fruits, tomatoes, meat and fish soups, radishes, white cabbage, pearl barley, barley and cereals. However, you should not overdo it with all these products even with low acidity. In this way, if the temperature is high, you can make milk soup, but if it is low, you should not.
In addition, sensitivity to food may vary from person to person, so, for example, cabbage, beans or dairy products for gastritis can be tried (strictly outside of exacerbations and in small doses). If everything is in order, then a small dose of this product can be left in the diet. However, the "let's try" method absolutely does not apply to fatty, spicy or salty foods, and certainly not to alcohol. The stomach here will definitely not say thank you, and not because it can't talk.
Diet for gastritis: what you can eat

Now let's talk about what you can eat with gastritis. It seems that we have named everything in the previous paragraph, but, fortunately, this is not the case. However, before moving on to the list of allowed products, we will give general recommendations from doctors. So:
- Eat fractionally - that is, often and in small portions, so as not to burden your stomach.5-6 times a day - and the inflammation will begin to calm down.
- Food should be warm.Food that is too cold or too hot will irritate the lining of the stomach and inflammation will increase.
- The more thoroughly you chew, the better.Regardless of whether you have gastritis with high or low acidity, the diet for gastritis mainly involves the elimination of foods that can mechanically irritate the stomach. That is why during an exacerbation it is recommended to eat pure, pure food.
- Everything should be either boiled, boiled or steamed. You can't eat fried food.
Let's move on to the main thing: what can you eat with gastritis? The list would be amazing. There will be no particular problem if you eat:
- Lean meat: chicken, turkey, ideally rabbit.Steamed cuts, grilled meat, tongue.
- Low-fat fish: pollock or hake.
- Dry white bread, maybe yesterday's bread.
- Dairy products are low in fat and sugar and will benefit from probiotics.
- Pasta (small, whole grains are better, but regular pasta, for example, "spider web" will do).
- Vegetables: broccoli, squash, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes, zucchini. You can eat vegetables - dill, parsley, just cut them smaller.
- Fruit: Baked apples are number one.If the acidity is low, you can use citrus fruits. All fruit must be ripe.
- Sweets: marshmallows, marshmallows, honey, sour jam or jam in small quantities.
- Dairy products: cottage cheese and cottage cheese dishes, low-fat milk, kefir, yogurt.
- Oil: butter or refined vegetable oil.
- Broths: vegetables, with low acidity, meat and fish, in any - weak.
- Cereals: buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, semolina, you can cook porridge, make pudding or casserole.
- Eggs: soft-boiled, in the form of steam omelets (by the way, they come out well in the microwave).
As you can see, this disease allows you to eat a varied and balanced diet.If inflammation of the stomach has been diagnosed in a child, then the question of what to eat with gastritis is also not worth it, just follow the list above. Now about drinking:
- Dried fruit compote and more - we still remember kindergarten.By the way, very tasty and healthy.
- Kissel.
- Weak tea.
- For low acidity - coffee.
- Rose hip stew.
Let's repeat again - it is very important to follow the diet during the exacerbation and for two weeks after it.At other times, you can indulge yourself, but it is better not to get carried away with it, otherwise you will have to sit on pure porridge and soup for half a month - not a good prospect.
